Solar panels and battery installation in Rosamond, CA
Rosamond is just over the Kern County line, about twenty-five minutes north of our Palmdale office on the 14. We have pulled permits and installed here for years, and the combination of a Kern County permit, an SCE interconnection and a lot of Edwards Air Force Base families makes it a market we know well.

Local knowledge
What going solar in Rosamond actually involves
Rosamond (ZIP 93560) is an unincorporated community in southern Kern County, sitting at about 2,300 feet just north of the Los Angeles County line and directly west of Edwards Air Force Base. It shares the Antelope Valley's abundant sun and dry, hot summers, and it is one of the windier corners of the valley, with the Tehachapi wind-farm ridges visible to the north. That means two design rules for us: panels and racking rated for sustained wind, and an eye on dust, which settles on arrays here faster than in town and makes periodic cleaning worth doing.
Housing in Rosamond is a mix. Around Rosamond Boulevard and the 14 there are 1980s–2000s tract homes with composition shingle and some tile, many owned or rented by Edwards personnel and contractors. Farther out are larger rural parcels, manufactured homes and properties on wells. We design accordingly, from a straightforward rooftop system on a tract home to a ground-mounted array with generator backup on acreage, and we offer military and veteran discounts to the many families here with a service connection.
Because Rosamond is in Kern County, the permit does not come from Lancaster or Palmdale. It comes from Kern County Public Works' Building Inspection division, which accepts residential roof-mounted solar through the SolarAPP+ automated review. Eligible designs are approved quickly; battery systems and ground mounts go through standard review. We are registered with SolarAPP+ and pull Kern County permits regularly, so the process is routine for us even though it trips up installers based elsewhere.
Electricity, on the other hand, comes from Southern California Edison, not PG&E, so Rosamond homeowners are on NEM 3.0 Net Billing like the rest of the Antelope Valley. Exports are credited at low avoided-cost rates and evening imports cost full time-of-use rates, so we size systems to your real usage and design in a battery for the 4–9 p.m. peak. SGIP battery rebates are available to income-qualified and high-fire-threat households; the general-market budget in SCE territory was closed at our last check. We check eligibility and file the paperwork.
Rosamond's rural feeders see wind-related outages, and homes on wells or with medical equipment feel them most. A battery covers evening use and short outages; a Generac standby generator, which we sell, install and service as a certified dealer, covers extended events and starts a well pump without trouble. Our office is close enough that install crews and service technicians are in Rosamond regularly.

Questions
Rosamond solar questions
Straight answers to what Rosamond homeowners ask us most.
01Who issues solar permits in Rosamond?
Rosamond is unincorporated Kern County, so permits come from Kern County Public Works' Building Inspection division, not the City of Lancaster. Residential roof-mounted solar goes through the SolarAPP+ automated review; battery and ground-mount projects get standard review. We pull the permit and handle the SCE interconnection.
02Is Rosamond on SCE or PG&E?
Southern California Edison. Even though Rosamond is in Kern County, it is in SCE's service territory, so NEM 3.0 Net Billing applies and SGIP battery rebates are available to qualifying households. Bakersfield, by contrast, is PG&E.
03Do you offer a discount for Edwards Air Force Base families?
Yes. We offer military and veteran discounts to active-duty, reserve, retired and veteran households. Ask about it when you request your quote and we will include it in the proposal.
04How does Rosamond wind affect a solar system?
We specify roof attachments, rails and clamps for Antelope Valley wind loads and inspect the roof structure before installing. Wind also carries dust, so we recommend periodic panel cleaning, which our service team can do. Every system carries our 25-year warranty and written production guarantee.
05Is there a federal solar tax credit in Rosamond in 2026?
Not for homeowner-owned systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. Third-party-owned systems such as leases and PPAs, and commercial projects, can still use the Section 48E credit through 2027. Our $0-down programs are built around that.
