Who this service is for

Three situations bring most people to this page.

Your production dropped or stopped. The inverter is showing a fault, the monitoring app has been flat for weeks, or the SCE bill crept back up and you are not sure why. Something in the system has failed, and it needs a technician who can test it properly rather than reboot it and hope.

Your installer is gone. A lot of solar companies that sold systems across Palmdale and Lancaster over the past decade no longer exist. Their customers are left with a system, a warranty booklet and no phone number. We take on those orphaned systems as our own.

You want to keep a good system good. Panels are 10 years in, the inverter is nearing the end of its warranty, or a windstorm just came through. An inspection now costs far less than a failure in August. It is also the right moment to add critter guard or look at a battery.

Good fit if…

  1. Production dropped, the inverter shows a fault or the monitoring app has been flat for weeks
  2. Your original installer is out of business and you need a service company
  3. The inverter is near the end of its warranty and you want it checked before it fails in August
  4. A windstorm, hail or a roofer moved or damaged panels

Not the right fit if…

  1. The system is still under its installer's workmanship warranty and that company is still in business; call them first
  2. The roof itself is leaking; that needs a roofer before a solar technician
  3. You want to add panels or a battery; that is a design job, start with the residential solar page
  4. You are on a shaky installer contract that forbids third-party service; check it before booking

What we do

Repair and service for any solar system

  1. 01

Diagnostics that find the real fault

A red light on the inverter can mean a dozen things. We test strings, connectors, microinverters, optimizers and the monitoring gateway to pinpoint the cause instead of replacing parts on a guess.

  2. 02

    Inverter and panel replacement

Inverters wear out well before panels do, and the desert heat does not help. We replace failed inverters, microinverters, optimizers and cracked or underperforming panels with compatible equipment.

  3. 03

Warranty and RMA claims filed for you

Manufacturer warranties on Enphase, SolarEdge, Q CELLS, Panasonic and others are still valid even if your installer is gone. We handle the RMA paperwork, the swap and the return.

  4. 04

    A home for orphaned systems

Thousands of Californians own solar from companies that no longer exist. We take on those systems, get to know them and become the number you call.

  5. 05

    Monitoring troubleshooting

An app that stopped reporting is not always a system that stopped producing, but you cannot know without checking. We fix gateway, Wi-Fi and account issues and confirm real output.

  6. 06

    Licensed for the electrical work

Solar repair is electrical work at high DC voltage. It is done by our C-10 licensed electricians, and where a permit is required for a replacement, we pull it.

The process

How a service call works

Diagnose first, quote second, repair third. No surprise invoices.

  1. 01

    Tell us the symptom

No production, low production, an error code, a monitoring app that went dark, or a letter from the manufacturer. Send a photo of the inverter display if you have one.

  2. 02

    Remote review

If your monitoring is online we look at the production history before we roll a truck. Often the pattern tells us what to bring.

  3. 03

    On-site diagnostic visit

A technician tests the array, inverter, connections and gateway, documents the findings and gives you a written repair quote. Diagnostic fees are quoted before the visit.

  4. 04

    Repair or warranty claim

In-warranty parts are claimed from the manufacturer through the RMA process. Out-of-warranty repairs are completed with compatible replacement equipment at the quoted price.

  5. 05

    Verification

We confirm the system is producing at the expected level, restore monitoring so you can see it yourself, and note anything to watch for going forward.

What to know about solar repairs

Warranties, common failures, permits and what to expect from a service visit.

Your warranties probably survived your installer

Solar equipment carries two kinds of warranty: the manufacturer’s warranty on the panels, inverters and batteries, and the installer’s workmanship warranty. When an installer closes, the workmanship warranty is usually gone, but the manufacturer warranties remain. Enphase, SolarEdge and the major panel makers will honor a valid claim from a licensed contractor acting on your behalf. That is the RMA process, and we run it routinely: document the failure, submit the claim, receive the replacement, install it, ship back the old unit.

What usually fails in the high desert

Inverters and their electronics come first. Heat is the enemy, and an inverter mounted on a sun-baked west wall in Palmdale works hard every summer. Connectors and wiring come next, particularly where rodents have been under the array or where a connector was never fully seated. Panels themselves fail least often, but cracked glass from debris, hot spots and delamination do happen, and a single bad panel on a string inverter system can drag down the whole string. Monitoring gateways fail or lose their Wi-Fi more often than any of the above, and that is the cheapest fix.

Permits and paperwork

A like-for-like inverter or panel swap under warranty typically does not require a new permit. Changing inverter type, adding panels or adding a battery does, and it also means an interconnection update with SCE. We tell you which applies before the work starts. All electrical work is performed under our C-10 license (CSLB #1105123).

When repair turns into an upgrade

If a string inverter has failed out of warranty on an older system, replacing it with a hybrid inverter and adding storage can make more sense than a straight swap, especially under NEM 3.0 where a battery changes the economics of the whole system. California SGIP rebates can apply to the battery portion; see the incentives page. If the cost of a larger repair is the obstacle, the financing page covers options for repairs bundled with upgrades.

What to have ready

Photos of the inverter display, your monitoring login if you have one, any paperwork from the original install including the equipment list, and your SCE account. If you have none of it, that is fine; we can identify the equipment on the roof and look up the interconnection record. Our office is in Palmdale, so for most of the valley the diagnostic visit is quick to schedule.

Why SunCoast

The installer that answers the phone

  1. 01

    Permitting solar here since 2019

We have been installing and servicing systems in the Antelope Valley long enough to know the equipment on most roofs and the inspectors in most cities.

  2. 02

    Licensed electricians, not sales reps

Service visits are done by technicians working under our C-10 license. The person on your roof is qualified to open the inverter.

  3. 03

Certified for Generac batteries and generators

If your backup equipment is Generac, we are a certified dealer and installer and can service it alongside the solar.

  4. 04

We install with a 25-year production guarantee

Servicing other people's systems has taught us what fails. It is why the systems we build come with a written production guarantee.

Questions

Solar repair questions

01My solar company went out of business. Can you service my system?

Yes. This is one of the most common calls we get in the Antelope Valley. Your equipment warranties are with the manufacturers, not the installer, so they are usually still valid. We diagnose the system, file any warranty claims, replace what needs replacing and, if you want, become your ongoing service provider. Bring whatever paperwork you have; we can work with very little.

02How do I know if my solar system is actually working?

Check your monitoring app for daily production, and compare your SCE bill to the same month last year. If the app is offline or shows zero on a sunny day, or if the inverter has a red or flashing fault light, the system needs attention. If you are not sure how to read any of that, call and we will look at it with you.

03What does a solar diagnostic visit cost?

We quote the diagnostic fee up front before scheduling, and if a repair follows we tell you the price before doing it. If the problem turns out to be a warranty part, the manufacturer covers the part and often part of the labor; we explain what is and is not covered for your equipment.

04How long do solar inverters last in Palmdale?

String inverters typically need replacement before the panels do, and desert heat shortens electronics' life, so an inverter placed in direct afternoon sun on a west wall will not last as long as one in a garage. Microinverters and optimizers carry longer warranties but individual units can fail. When a string inverter goes, it is often the moment to consider adding a battery, since a new hybrid inverter can do both jobs.

05Do you handle warranty claims for Enphase, SolarEdge and other brands?

Yes. We process RMA claims with the major manufacturers whose equipment is common in the valley, including Enphase, SolarEdge, Q CELLS, Canadian Solar, Panasonic and LG. We handle the claim, the replacement install and the return shipping of the failed part.

06Do solar panels need regular maintenance?

Panels have no moving parts, but the system around them benefits from a periodic look: connections, conduit, racking after windstorms, inverter ventilation, and whether anything is nesting underneath. We offer inspections for systems of any age and recommend critter guard where pigeons are a problem.

07Can you expand my existing system or add a battery to it?

Usually, yes. Adding panels depends on the inverter's headroom and roof space, and it triggers a new permit and an SCE interconnection change. Adding a battery is often simpler and, under NEM 3.0, more valuable. We assess the existing system first and tell you what is possible.
