Questions
Costs & savings
What solar costs in the Antelope Valley and when it pays off.
01How much does a home solar system cost in Palmdale?
Third-party pricing guides put California residential solar at roughly $2.40–3.25 per watt installed in 2026, with EnergySage reporting a statewide average around $2.52/W. Those are typical regional ranges, not SunCoast prices. Your quote depends on roof type, electrical panel, equipment and whether a battery is included. We give you a cash price and a financed price in writing.
02Is solar still worth it without the federal tax credit?
For many homes with a meaningful SCE bill, an unshaded roof and either daytime usage or a battery, yes. For homes with small bills, heavy shade or a roof that needs replacing, it may not be, and we will say so. The answer comes from your 12-month usage data, not a rule of thumb.
03How long does it take for solar to pay for itself?
It varies with your bill, your rate plan, how much of your production you use at home and how you pay for the system. Under Net Billing, a system sized to your usage with a battery generally pays back faster than an oversized solar-only system. We show payback year by year in the proposal, based on your data.
Questions
Incentives & NEM 3.0
What ended, what remains and how SCE credits exported power.
01Can I still get the 30% federal solar tax credit?
Not if you buy a system in 2026. The Section 25D residential credit does not apply to systems whose installation was completed after December 31, 2025. The Section 48E business credit remains for commercial systems and third-party-owned residential systems (leases and PPAs) placed in service by the end of 2027; the provider claims it, not you.
02What is NEM 3.0?
It is SCE's Net Billing Tariff, also called the Solar Billing Plan, for solar customers who applied on or after April 15, 2023. Exported energy is credited at avoided-cost prices that vary by hour and month (a few cents midday, much more on summer evenings), while energy you use yourself offsets the full retail rate. That is why batteries and self-consumption now drive the savings.
03Are there California rebates for batteries?
SGIP pays per kWh of battery capacity. The Equity and Equity Resiliency tiers ($850 and $1,000 per kWh per the CPUC) are for income-qualified households and homes in high fire-threat districts or with repeated PSPS events. The general residential budget in SCE territory was closed at our last check. We verify current status for every battery project.
04Will solar raise my property taxes?
Not for systems that qualify for California's solar new-construction exclusion before it sunsets on January 1, 2027. Under SB 710, those systems keep the exclusion until the property changes ownership.
Questions
Batteries & outages
Backup power, PSPS shutoffs and how storage fits NEM 3.0.
01Will my solar panels work during a power outage?
Not on their own. Grid-tied solar shuts down in an outage to protect utility workers. You need a battery with backup capability or a generator to have power when the grid is down.
02How long will a battery power my home?
It depends on the battery size and what you run. One typical 13–15 kWh battery can carry a refrigerator, lights, internet and some outlets for a day or more. Central air conditioning drains it in hours, so whole-home coverage with AC usually means multiple batteries or a generator.
03Does a battery save money even when there is no outage?
Yes, under Net Billing. It stores midday solar that would otherwise export for a low credit and discharges it during the 4–9 p.m. peak when SCE's TOU-D-PRIME rate is highest. Most of our battery customers buy it for savings first and backup second.
Questions
Installation & permits
Timelines, permits and what happens on install day.
01How long does the whole process take?
Typically six to twelve weeks from signing to permission to operate, longer with a battery. The install itself is one to two days. The rest is design, permitting, inspection and SCE's interconnection review.
02Who handles the permits and SCE paperwork?
We do. Palmdale and Kern County accept SolarAPP+ for eligible rooftop systems, which can make the permit a same-day step. We also file the SCE interconnection application, schedule the inspection and submit the closing package for permission to operate.
03Do I need a new electrical panel?
Sometimes. Older homes with 100-amp panels often need an upgrade or an alternative connection method before solar or a battery can be added. We check your panel during the site survey and price any work separately so there are no surprises.
04What if my roof needs work?
Replace or repair it first. Removing and reinstalling panels later is an avoidable cost. If your roof has less than about five years left, we will tell you before you sign.
Questions
Equipment & warranties
What we install and what is covered.
01What brands do you install?
We install panels and inverters from Enphase, SolarEdge, Tesla, FranklinWH, Q CELLS, Canadian Solar, Panasonic, LG, and Generac generators. Equipment choice depends on your roof, shading and budget; we explain the trade-offs rather than push one brand.
02What warranty comes with a SunCoast system?
Installed solar systems come with a 25-year warranty and a 25-year written production guarantee. Manufacturer warranties on panels, inverters and batteries are passed through to you, and we handle the claims process if something fails.
03Do you service systems you did not install?
Yes. We diagnose and repair systems from other installers, including ones whose original company has gone out of business, and we handle inverter replacements and warranty claims.
Questions
Generators
Generac standby power for multi-day outages.
01Should I get a battery or a Generac generator?
A battery is quieter, needs no fuel and lowers your bill daily under Net Billing, but its runtime is limited. A generator runs the whole house, air conditioning included, as long as it has natural gas or propane, but it is an engine with fuel and maintenance costs and no bill savings. Foothill homes on PSPS-prone circuits often want both.
02Do you install and service Generac generators?
Yes. SunCoast is a Generac Certified Dealer and Installer. We size the unit, handle the gas and electrical work, the permit and the transfer switch, and offer ongoing maintenance.
03Is there a rebate for a generator?
No. There are no federal or California incentives for standby generators. Financing with fixed monthly payments is available.
Questions
EV chargers
Charging at home, with or without solar.
01Can you install an EV charger with my solar?
Yes. We install Level 2 home chargers, including Enphase and SolarEdge units that integrate with their solar systems so you can see charging and production in one app. A charger can be added to an existing system or installed on its own.
02Will I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger?
A Level 2 charger is typically a 40–60 amp circuit. Many 200-amp panels can handle it; 100-amp panels often cannot without an upgrade or a load-management device. We confirm during the site survey.
Questions
Working with SunCoast
Who we are and how we work.
01Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. SunCoast Solar is licensed and insured, working under CSLB license #1028836 (B, General Building) and C-10 electrical license #1105123. You can verify both on the CSLB website. We are locally owned and based in Palmdale.
02Where do you install?

03Do you use subcontractors?
Our residential installs are done by our own licensed electricians and installers. If a project needs a specialty trade, such as a reroof, we tell you who is doing it before work starts.
04Do you offer military or veteran discounts?
Yes. Military and veteran discounts apply to the system price however you choose to pay. Mention it when you request a quote.
